Sustainable development
CAM : Agir pour le développement durable
During these courses, i had the opportunity to attend conferences on the theme of sustainable development:
– Rémi GAUBERT presented us his association, Time for the planet, whose goal is to finance greener initiatives with the help of its shareholders. It was truly educative as I learned a lot, like the fact that household heating was one of the main sources of our fossil energy needs ;
– Tom CASEY, en engineer, gived us a lecture on circular economy, a new economic model aiming to procude while drastically limiting the consumption of raw materials and the use of fossil energy ;
– Two Airbus employees talked to us about the environmental goals in the aviation sector, their company’s projects and the future need for engineers to achieve greener objectives ;
– Marc ELIAS introduced us his association, Hall of change, wich provides a website to connect volunteers and associations looking for them.
These conferences made me realize how human activity impacted our planet. I would soon be an engineer. This means that i would be able to work to find solutions to our energy and consumption issues. Until then, I do my best to improve my behaviour in matter of sustainability because we all, at our own level can change things for the better.
My sulitest.org results
Sulitest is a non-profit organization. They designed a platform which aims to expand sustainability knowledge and skills.
You will find below this text, the results I obtained on the website. Taking this test was one of the « Agir pour le développement durable » module objectives.
Knowledge in the following four « modules » are rated : Substainable humanity and ecosystems, Global and local human-constructed systems, Transition towards sustainability and Role to play, individual and systemic change.

As a world citizen…
I am aware that my behavior in terms of sustainability is not perfect. I am gradually trying to improve my practices to be more responsible : I buy local products to promote local production and reduce the impact of my purchases on transport-related emissions, I eat less meat to reduce my impact on breeding…
Later, as an engineer…
As a future engineer, I would like to go on one of the two french stations in antarctica for what is called a 13 month wintering campaign. Dumont d’Urville and Concordia stations recruit new engineers each year to manage the IT and communication equipments maintenance. The purpose of these two stations is, among other things, to study the ice in order to better understand the effects of global warming. For this reason, I want to try this adventure to contribute in my own way to the realization of experiments that will help scientists to understand our future and how we could improve it.
